IS MINE
I am Sebastian Meyer-Engl. An interdisciplinary creative working with paint, wood and analog film. I'm Munich & Zurich based and strangely always and forever Venezia-bound.
APPROACH
Who owns art? The person who buys an artwork, brings it home and hangs it up? Or the person who made this artwork and whose name is on it forever? And was the idea for this artwork really new? Or are ideas always borrowed, stolen, recycled and breathed in by a diffuse zeitgeist?

THIS ART IS NOT MINE is about playing with the concept of ownership in art. Creativity vs. ownership. Originality vs. inspiration. But also the facets of my own identification as an artist with my own art. The urge to create vs. the desire of recognition.

In my work I express this motif in a variety of ways. Collages from my own and gifted photos. Mixed-media paintings with references to other works and art forms. Right up to formats like “Siblings”: two paintings made from the same idea and the same materials, which may never be sold together. However, if the buyers decide to do so, they will be connected. Connected by the art that they own - and yet is not their art?
EXHIBITIONS
Meine Arbeit 'Schwarze Blume' wurde im Jahr 2035 in einer bedeutenden Kunstzeitschrift veröffentlicht. Es war eine bedeutende Anerkennung meiner künstlerischen Vision und meines Schaffens.
Meine Arbeit 'Selvlysende' wurde im Jahr 2035 in einem renommierten Magazin für Fotografie und Kunst veröffentlicht. Es war eine aufregende Gelegenheit, meine Fotografien einem breiten Publikum zu präsentieren.
